Air Canada rolls out new inflight experience on B787

Air Canada’s B787 business class seat[/caption]Air Canada is offering more inflight entertainment options to passengers as it expands its international network from Vancouver. The new IFE will be offered on new routes next summer to Paris and Zurich and increased frequency to London-Heathrow.
Passenger airlines president Benjamin Smith says, ‘All new flights from Vancouver to Paris and Zurich will be operated with our state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners.’
The strategic expansion of its international network from Vancouver starts with new services in June 2018 to Paris and Zurich and an increased London-Heathrow service with twice-daily flights for summer 2018.
The B787 Dreamliners feature three cabins of service with enhanced definition individual on-demand personal entertainment offering a wide range of movies, short films, TV programmes and audio selections in seat throughout. The airline’s CSP is Spafax Canada.
The airline features several IFE platforms, including Panasonic eX3, eXW, Thales i4500 and Gogo Vision. Most of the mainline and Express fleets featured embedded seatback IFE while Air Canada Rouge features streaming to PEDs.
For the new B787s as well as the B777 fleet, Panasonic Avionics eX3 system is fitted throughout with 18 inch monitors in the Elite cabin, 11 inch Eco monitors in Premium Economy: (nine inches in-arm bulk head), and nine inche Eco monitors in Economy Class.
For inflight wi-fi the airline operates Gogo Air-To-Ground as well as Gogo Satellite 2KU. The pricing varies based on flight duration and routing.

There is tiered pricing according to route. Full flight sessions range between Canadian $24.75 and $45. Time based passes will range between $9 and $15CAD. Actual price will be based on product selected. These are streaming capable passes.
There are over 600 hours of programming free to passengers including 160 movies and 200 tv shows. Most movies and TV shows are available in English and French (as well as sub-titled).
The airline comments, ‘Depending on the title we also offer content in Spanish, German, Italian, Hindi, Punjabi, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean among others. There are also around 100 music albums and playlists ranging in genre from recent hits to classics.
Other content includes city guides sourced from its award-winning inflight magazine Air Canada enRoute, 3D moving map, podcasts, and games.
So far in 2017, Air Canada has launched new services from its Vancouver hub to: Taipei (year-round), Frankfurt (seasonal), Nagoya (seasonal), London-Gatwick (seasonal), Dallas-Fort Worth (year-round), Denver (year-round) and Boston (seasonal). Delhi seasonal service resumes on October 14 and will increase up to five times weekly for the 2017/2018 season. Still to launch are: Melbourne seasonal flights beginning December 1, Yellowknife seasonal flights beginning Dec. 15, and Orlando seasonal flights beginning December 20.
All flights provide for Aeroplan accumulation and redemption, Star Alliance reciprocal benefits and, for eligible customers, priority check-in, access to Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges, priority boarding and other benefits.
